The number of reported crimes in our area continues to trend downward. Crimes are down almost 30% this year compared to the same period last year. This is more than the overall drop in crime for the West LA region for 2018-19.
Our resident data scientist Marc Robbins has added a new chart in the “West LA Crime Trend” tab of the FULL SEPTEMBER REPORT as well as a new chart in the “Crime statistics” tab which show when crimes occur during the day. The very large majority occur between noon and midnight. Interestingly, the dominant time of crime occurrences is flipped for commercial and residential events: noon to 6 p.m. for commercial, and 6 p.m. to midnight for residential.
